It’s been so long since I’ve last written! Time has been passing by in the blink of an eye, and I have a little bit to share with you. Two weeks ago this time, I was sitting in an airport waiting to board a plane to go back home. Though I was happy to be home, Spring Break was off to a rocky start when my sister’s flight was cancelled. She did make it home the next afternoon, but it would’ve been nice to have a family dinner the first night being home.
Once my sister go into the city the next day we really didn’t do much of anything cause half the day was gone. We did however get to have our first family meal together for the first time in two months. I personally love sitting at the dinner table with my mom and sister and talking about our day. It really doesn’t matter where we are or if we eat at home or not, dinner time is a time that we all look forward too and enjoy. Not JUST for the food, but we also have great conversation and laugh a lot. I like to tell my friends I go on a food tour when I go home, cause I can’t get some of my favorite foods down in South Carolina.
Some of my favorite restaurants back at home included: California Pizza Kitchen, Potbelly’s, Panera (we do have this in South Carolina but I can’t get to it), Noodles & Company, First Watch, Cava Mezze Grill, Baked and Wired (which I’ll be writing a separate post about 🙂 ), Fat Pete’s Barbecue, and we tried a new restaurant called Medium Rare. It felt great to have such a variety of food within a small distance! Here’s a picture from Medium Rare, special to the D.C. area.
They have a fixed menu which is just $20 a person for a full meal, that includes bread, a salad, and steak with french fries. This place was amazing and I would highly recommend it to anyone, especially people in the D.C. area looking for a nice affordable date spot!
While being at home my sister and I took advantage of being able to get around on our own again cause neither of us have a car at school. We did things like going to the mall, going around Washington, D.C. , and going to our favorite coffee and lunch spots. Honestly, it felt great to have to beg someone to take me out of the range of my apartment complex. It felt good to blast my music in the car and sing along!
My sister and I spent two days in the city enjoying our favorite spots like Georgetown and the National Art Gallery. Sadly, the whole Modern Art section of the Gallery was shut down for renovations while we were home. I’m a huge fan of Modern Art, and love to see everyone’s cool pieces. I would highly recommend the Renwick Art Gallery for anyone visiting D.C.. There were a couple cool pieces in a small part two blocks away.
We also spent a day in Georgetown! I will write a whole post about that alone because then this post would never end!
All in all I had a great time at home with my family over break and I was extremely sad to leave. Me and my sister are already counting down the weeks till we’re home for summer break. Hopefully I’ll have a job lined up for the summer so I can take a class required for my major!
Look out for my Georgetown post within the next couple days 🙂 !
